The Mahindra Thar is one of India’s most iconic off-road SUVs, blending ruggedness with modern-day comfort. The latest generation, launched in 2020, marked a significant transformation from being a hardcore off-roader to a lifestyle SUV fit for both urban roads and adventure trails.

The Thar boasts a bold and muscular design, characterized by its boxy silhouette, round headlamps, signature 7-slat grille, chunky wheel arches, and heavy-duty bumpers. The vehicle offers removable roof options (soft top, convertible, and hard top), making it especially appealing for adventure lovers.

Inside, the new Thar combines toughness with practicality. The cabin is now more refined and water-resistant, featuring washable upholstery and a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, cruise control, steering-mounted controls, and automatic climate control (on higher variants).

The Thar is available with two engine options: a 2.0L mStallion turbo-petrol engine producing 150 PS and 320 Nm, and a 2.2L mHawk diesel engine producing 130 PS and 300 Nm. Both engines offer a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Thar also comes with 4x4 as standard across variants, along with a mechanical locking differential and a shift-on-the-fly transfer case, which makes it truly off-road ready.

The Thar offers excellent ground clearance, approach and departure angles, and water-wading capability — making it perfect for both wild trails and urban roads.
